Chardham Yatra – Starting from Haridwar
Embark on a sacred spiritual journey to the revered Chardham of Uttarakhand – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath – starting from the holy city of Haridwar, where the divine Ganga descends to the plains. This legendary pilgrimage, also known as the Chota Chardham Yatra, takes you through serene Himalayan valleys, ancient temples, snow-capped mountains, sacred rivers, and tranquil forests, offering a divine blend of spirituality, natural beauty, and cultural heritage.
Your yatra begins in Haridwar, one of India’s seven holiest cities, where thousands of pilgrims gather on the banks of the Ganga to seek blessings. After attending the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, the journey moves towards the majestic Himalayas, entering the peaceful hill towns of Uttarkashi, Guptkashi, and Rudraprayag—each carrying deep mythological significance and breathtaking landscapes.
Yamunotri – The Origin of River Yamuna
The first dham of the yatra is Yamunotri, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Reached via a scenic trek from Janki Chatti, the route is filled with waterfalls, dense forests, and panoramic views. Pilgrims offer prayers at the Yamunotri Temple and take a holy dip in the hot springs of Surya Kund.
Gangotri – The Source of the Holy Ganga
Next, the journey continues to Gangotri, the birthplace of the sacred Ganga River. Surrounded by deodar forests and towering Himalayan peaks, the Gangotri Temple stands as a symbol of purity and devotion. It is believed that King Bhagirath meditated here to bring the Ganga down from heaven. Pilgrims offer prayers, perform rituals, and seek divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and liberation.
Kedarnath – The Holy Abode of Lord Shiva
The third dham, Kedarnath, is one of the most powerful spiritual destinations in the world. Nestled at 3,583 meters amidst breathtaking snow-clad peaks, the ancient Kedarnath Temple, built by the Pandavas and revived by Adi Shankaracharya, stands as a beacon of unwavering faith. Reaching Kedarnath involves a scenic trek or helicopter service from Guptkashi or Phata.
Badrinath – The Sacred Seat of Lord Vishnu
The last stop of the pilgrimage is Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Set against the backdrop of the Neelkanth Peak, the Badrinath Temple is one of India’s most iconic shrines. The route passes through Joshimath and Govindghat, offering spellbinding vistas of valleys and rivers. Pilgrims also visit Tapt Kund, Brahma Kapal, and Mana Village – the last village of India.
A Journey of Faith, Devotion & Himalayas
Throughout the yatra, travelers witness sacred Sangams, crystal-clear rivers, mountain life, ancient legends, and divine Himalayan energy that rejuvenates the mind, body, and soul. Completing the Chardham Yatra is believed to cleanse past sins, bring spiritual upliftment, and open the path toward Moksha.
Starting from Haridwar, this divine pilgrimage is not only a religious journey but also a life-changing experience filled with peace, devotion, and the unmatched beauty of nature.
