Ujjain is a holy city known for the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. Maheshwar is a historic town on the Narmada River, famous for its fort and handloom sarees. Mandav (Mandu) is a historic city with ancient ruins, including the Jahaz Mahal. Omkareshwar is a sacred island with the Omkareshwar Temple, another of the twelve Jyotirlingas, located on the Narmada River.
Ujjain
An ancient city on the banks of the Kshipra River, Ujjain is one of Hinduism's seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri).
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga: Home to one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas, the Mahakaleshwar Temple is a major pilgrimage site where the lingam is believed to be self-manifested (Swayambhu).
Religious Significance: Ujjain is one of four locations for the Kumbh Mela, a major pilgrimage held every 12 years. It is also mentioned in the works of the 5th-century classical poet Kalidasa.
Other Attractions: The city also features Ram Ghat, an important bathing ghat on the Kshipra River, and the Vedh Shala, an ancient observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh.
Omkareshwar
A sacred pilgrimage site located on an 'Om'-shaped island in the Narmada River, Omkareshwar is home to another one of the 12 Jyotirlingas.
Omkareshwar Temple: The primary temple is a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, attracting devotees from across the country.
Mamleshwar Temple: Legend says the Omkareshwar lingam divided into two, with one part becoming Omkareshwar and the other, Mamleshwar. Both are worshipped as part of the Jyotirlinga darshan.
Spiritual Environment: The sacred island location, a boat ride away from the river bank, adds to the serene and divine atmosphere of the pilgrimag.
Maheshwar
A beautiful town on the banks of the Narmada River, Maheshwar was the capital of the Holkar dynasty during the reign of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar.
Ahilya Fort and Palace: The 18th-century Ahilya Fort is a major attraction, built by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, who transformed the town into a hub of art and culture. The fort overlooks the stunning ghats and the Narmada River.
Maheshwari Sarees: Maheshwar is a renowned center for handloom weaving, famous for its intricate Maheshwari sarees.
Serene Ghats: The ghats along the river, with their many temples and the peaceful flow of the Narmada, provide a spiritual and picturesque atmosphere.
Mandav (or Mandu)
Also known as "The City of Joy" (Shadiabad) by the Mughals, Mandav is an ancient, abandoned fort city known for its magnificent Afghan and Hindu-style architecture.
Jahaz Mahal: One of the most famous structures, this "ship palace" appears to float in the twin lakes surrounding it.
Rani Roopmati's Pavilion: Perched on a cliff, this pavilion is dedicated to the romance between Sultan Baz Bahadur and the beautiful singer Roopmati. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Other Monuments: Key sites include the Hindola Mahal (Swinging Palace), Hoshang Shah's Tomb (India's first marble tomb), and Jama Masjid.
Detailed: Itinerary
Day 01: Indore Arrival – Ujjain (55 Kms / 2 Hrs)
Morning Arrival at Indore Airport, On Arrival our driver will Pick-up and assist you later depart to Ujjain. On Arrival check-in at Hotel. afternoon have lunch at Hotel afterwards proceed for sightseeing tour of Ujjain visit Kal Bhairon, Har Siddhi, Mahakal Temple and corridor , Shipra River and Sandipni Ashram. Evening light Sound Show in Mahakal Temple corridor. Dinner and Overnight Stay at Hotel in Ujjain.
Day 02: Ujjain –Omkareshwar (130 Kms / 3 Hrs) – Maheshwar
After Breakfast at the hotel, check-out from the hotel and move for Omkareshwar, it is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas visited every year by a large number of pilgrims. The island of Omkareshwar is naturally shaped like ‘OM’, the sacred Hindu symbol. The 270 ft. Hanging Bridge over Narmada enhances the beauty of Omkareshwar. The three storey Gauri Somnath Temple is made in the shape of peahen. In the afternoon transfer to Maheshwar. On Arrival Check-in at Hotel. Overnight Stay at Hotel in Maheshwar.
Day 03: Maheshwar & Mandu Sightseeing – Indore
After Breakfast at the hotel, check-out from the hotel and move for Maheshwar. Sightseeing in Maheshwar includes Shri Ahilyeshwar Temple, Narmada Ghat and Maheshwar fort. Next visit Mandav which includes places like Bahadur Palace and Rani roopmati pavilion and Jahaz Mahal. Evening Transfer to Indore. Overnight stay at Hotel in Indore.
Day 04: Indore Sightseeing
Have your breakfast at the hotel, check-out from the hotel and move for local sightseeing of Indore which included place like Bada Ganpati, Rajwada Palace and Khajrana Ganesh Mandir, Lal Bag palace and Pitra Parvat etc. In the evening drop at Indore Railway station / Airport for your journey.
